Ohio Blows. Unless it is in the one or two county border on the Ohio River in Applachia, skip it. Move somewhere real. You have an opportunity to relocate somewhere cool and interesting, so do Colorado or Utah, or Montana or Nevada or Wyoming or Oregon or Washington or something outside of the Mid-freaking-West

If I just search for small places that fit my criteria, my tops become places like Spearfish SD in teh Black Hills and Seward Alaska, which I agree would be an awesome place to live.

Oh, yes! We have done find your spot. We share some areas like Virginia and Pennsylvania. I don't think we're planning a permanent stay in Ohio. Right now we're just looking for a stop-gap. We're going to work a couple cruddy jobs while we get teachers' certs. We figure we might as well try to be near our family and friends during that time. Once we have the certs, we go where the teaching jobs are. ie not Michigan. Or Ohio. Or most of the mid-west.

So, well we have a major relocation chance now, we'll have another in a little over a year.

And as much as I'd love to see ya when we move to Hawaii ... I'd advise against any teaching jobs there. There's HUGE problems with the education system. You have a 50% increase in standard of living expense, but a 15% DECREASE in pay. There were major issues in every single newspaper while we were there (strikes, etc). Not to mention racism against white people in some areas (namely the "big island" Hawaii and Molokai). The parents there have the attitude of "education isn't important ... look at me ... I made it without an education!" so the kids don't want to learn, act out, etc. Yeah ... avoid Hawaii like the plague.
